Regional Summary
Within the northeast Avalon boundaries are several large and
growing regional centres, including the provincial capital, as
well as smaller but very accessible communities including:
Avondale, Bauline, Colliers, Conception Bay South,
Conception Harbour, Flatrock, Freshwater, Harbour Main-
Chapel Cove-Lakeview, Holyrood, Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer
Cove, Marysvale, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Petty Harbour-Maddox
Cove, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips, Pouch Cove, St. John's, Torbay
and Bell Island.
A number of years ago, the Province wanted to focus on a regional approach to economic and business development and established 20 regional economic development boards across the Province. The northeast avalon, or economic zone 19, covers the 19 communities listed above and is known as the Northeast Avalon REDB Inc.
